It's Fear Friday here at the Laughing Vixen Lounge blog. Since it is February all of the films will have a Valentine theme to them. This week comes a traditional slasher film that teaches us the lesson "don't pick on the geeky kid" or some Valentine's Day you all might start to die. Enjoy!
Every Friday at the Laughing Vixen Lounge Blog is Fear Friday. Fear Fridays are a celebration of all films spooky. Horror is a very broad genre and the Lounge loves it all. Each Friday you will find a review of a different film. These can range from Classic Horror (black and white and cheesy), Thrillers (suspense, jumps and a good mystery), outright Horror (chop chop, slash slash, die die) and anything else in between.
So pop some popcorn, kill the lights and enjoy tonight's selection. And please, share your comments on the film. Bad or good let me know what you thought of it. And now, my little ghouls and dolls, the Laughing Vixen Lounge Blog is proud to present this week's film.
Fear Friday - Valentine
Tagline - Scared to be alone on Valentine's Day? You should be.
Remember that kid everyone ignored on Valentine's Day? He
remembers you.
Love Hurts.
Directed by Jamie Blanks (Urban Legends and The Long Weekend) and released on February 2, 2001 by Warner Brothers (Rated R). When a group of friends start to die off they begin to suspect a former classmate that they wronged. Could it be him or is it someone much closer? Muahahahaha!!!
This is a fun little slasher movie. It's your basic chop chop slash slash film with a Valentine's Day theme. A group of girls embarrassed a boy in school. Flash forward to their twenties. It's Valentine's Day and the group starts to die off one by one. While this is nothing new story wise I still found it to be an interesting watch. They do a pretty good job at making you think the killer is one person, then another and so on.
Not that any movie with Denise Richards in it would be high on my list but hey, most people do not last very long in these movies! If you are looking for something bloody this Valentine's Day instead of sappy this is a good choice. Pair it up with My Bloody Valentine and you will have yourself a great anti Valentine's Day double feature.
Take a look at the original trailer.
Some trivia about the movie.
1. In one scene, Kat tells Dorothy that her boyfriend, Adam Carr (David Boreanaz), is 'no angel'. This is, of course, referring to Boreanaz's hit TV series, Angel (1999).
2. During the original casting process, Tara Reid played "Dorothy Wheeler' (now played by Jessica Capshaw) and Jennifer Love Hewitt played "Paige Prescott" (now played by Denise Richards).
3. Shot in 42 days.
4. At a cost of $10 million this is the cheapest film to ever have a Superbowl spot.
5. Luke Wilson and Jeremy Sisto were considered for the role of Adam Carr.
Oh cool! I've got to see it! I can't believe I haven't seen this! Happy Friday and Happy Valentines Day!
ReplyDeleteOh, David Boreanaz. Would watch him read the phone book
