ROCKABILLY Digital Collage Sheet  $4.50

How did you choose your shop name?
"JUNK is what we work with and MILL is what we do.
When I’m mixing elements in Photoshop to create the collage images, I imagine a little clockwork-style mill grinding away in the back of my brain with gears and whistles and smokestacks, so when I stumbled across the term, it just stuck. I like that it hints at what the shop is about, yet it has a bit of mystery. It’s actually a mining term for a huge drill bit designed to tear through junk, concrete and metal."

TABULA ROSA Digital Collage Sheet  $3.50

Why did you choose to make/sell what you do?
"After hunting high and low for cool, creepy collage sheets and coming up empty-handed, I started collecting my own images and putting together sheets for myself and my collage artist friends. When I discovered Etsy, I thought I’d list a few of the sheets “just to see,” and Junkmill was born. It turns out that my friends and I weren’t the only ones looking for dark and moody collage images. I offer a range of subject material, but the Gothic, spooky and creepy themes that started Junkmill continue to be some of the most popular."

BROKEN HEARTED Digital Collage Sheet  $3.50

What inspires the designs/creations you make?
"I tend to follow my own interests and whims when designing collage sheets. I always work from the premise that if I think an image or object is interesting, unique or inspiring, it’s likely others will too. I’m always drawn to macabre and kitsch imagery, like our zombie pin-ups, our retro horror magazine covers and our rockabilly girls, but I find inspiration everywhere – from Victorian books and turn-of-the-century lithographs to my collections of antique medical ephemera and vintage gumball machine toys. As my significant other (aka “the guy who drives all the shop orders to the post office”) explains it when his friends ask, “It’s humorous and horrifying at the same time, not that flowery, girly stuff.”

L'AMORE Digital Collage Sheet  $3.50

What new designs/creations would you like to add to your shop in the future?
"In the next few months I’ll be adding vintage circus sideshow posters, Victorian medical illustrations and antique magic illustrations to the shop, as well as some very odd lithographs from a 19th Century bestiary and more pin-up girls … and, of course, whatever strikes my fancy in the interim. I’ve had a lot of new requests from customers for everything from Dr. Who to items for art journals and smash books, and many of those will likely make it into the shop as well. I always love the special requests – they never fail to inspire."

Since it's Valentine's Day I had to ask the shops to share their favorite love story movies.
"Secretary, starring James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. It's a bit deviant, but ultimately a very sweet love story about two eccentrics and their version of the perfect romance. Incidentally, this is the very first film I saw with Mr. Rau, my partner-in-crime of 8 years. We had just started dating and went over to our friends' apartment for an indie movie night. We had all just met, and it was the first DVD in the stack. Talk about a tad bit uncomfortable! Everyone sort of fidgeted for a bit once the credits started rolling waiting for someone to make a comment. Turns out we all had the same thought: What a beautiful love story."

14 Nights of Valentine's Day Movie Marathon
Follow along with us for 2 weeks full of classic and modern love story movies. Each night there will be a review of the next movie in our movie marathon. Leave a comment on each post with your opinion of that movie. On the last day you will find the magic phrase you will use to unlock the entry on the Rafflecopter worth 10 entries in the giveaway. You must comment on each movie post to qualify.

Guess The Movie Game
This time around we decided not to post the movie list in full so we can play a fun game instead. Each daily post will have a clue to the next night's movie. Each day you can leave your guess on the Rafflecopter widget, on the main giveaway page, for 2 entries in the giveaway. **Guesses must be posted the same day as their clue to receive the 2 entries**

Night 8 - The Lake House

Tagline - How do you hold on to someone you've
                never met?

Directed by Alejandro Agresti and released on June 16, 2006 by Warner Brothers Pictures (Rated PG-13). Kate (Sandra Bullock) is moving out of her beautiful glass house on the lake. She leaves a note in the mailbox for the next tenant to forward her mail to her new address. Alex (Keanu Reeves) opens the mailbox and finds her note. Only thing is, Alex lives in the lake house two years prior to Kate. Wooooo...spooky. The two fall in love as they exchange many letters. Can their love survive the "long distance" relationship and will they be able to find each other in time?

I like the concept of this movie. It's all about destiny and a little magic. If the whole time difference thing starts to get too confusing just don't think about it that much and go with it. It's sweet, a little sad in spots and leaves you with that wonderful feeling that anything can happen. I just love Keanu and this is a great little movie.

Take a look at the original trailer.

Some trivia about the movie...
1. John Cusack was the first choice for the role of Alex Wyler, but he declined.
2. The name of the exclusive restaurant in the film is "Il Mare". "Il Mare" is also the name of the house and the International title of the Korean film upon which "The Lake House" is based, Siworae (2000).
3. Sandra Bullock states that she felt compelled to name the dog "Jack" after the character of Keanu Reeves in Speed (1994) the first movie the two of them made together.
4. Director Cameo: [Alejandro Agresti] man using breath spray on the bus, beside Sandra Bullock.
5. The film clip featuring Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant is from the Alfred Hitchcock film Notorious (1946).
6. The lake house measured 2000 square feet and sat on top of steel beams ten feet above the waterline. It used 35 tons of steel and required nearly 100 carpenters, welders and painters to build it.
7. The actual house did not exist and was built for the movie, then dismantled. The coordinates are 41° 42' 49.92" N, 87° 53' 10.56" W. (Google Earth can be used to view this location now, and using the History feature, the house can still be viewed.)
8. The Lake House used was located on Maple Lake, a small and well known haunted fishing lake located in Willow Springs, IL. Read more about the haunted lake here.

  11. Never heard of it but I love Keanu in anything, I'm a big fan of Sandra but I can't picture her playing the described part opposite of Keanu for some reason. I'll have to watch and see the chemistry for myself. (Raine on RCs)
