Featured Shop - Trinkets By Dana

Trinkets By Dana is run by Dana from Atlanta, GA. Her shop is filled with paper crafts, decor for parties and weddings, jewelry and accessories.

Key and Lock Dreamcatcher Earrings  $15.25

How did you choose your shop name?
"My shop is like an antique shop-- you never know what you will find. I knew I would want to try a million different projects so I didn't want a name that would imply just one craft. I went with trinkets because it really embodies my shop's tangents well while reminding people that the little things are worth treasuring and being happy about. Now this is obviously a pun for the small items in my shop and the wonderful things in everyday life we tend to ignore or take for granted."

Smitten Valentine Origami Stars  $9.25

Why did you choose to make/sell what you do?
"I got on Etsy my freshman year of college to just look around and de-stress. I got inspired nonstop and knew right away what I wanted to try making so I thought why not sell it? Why not share it with the world? And 2-3 years down the line, here I am!"

Love Arrows Silver Plated Necklace  $14.25

What inspires the designs/creations you make?
"Anything and everything! You should never feel limited in inspiration. When I'm taking a drive, I look at architecture/nature we tend to miss out on during everyday chores like the architectural details of downtown skyscrapers or the colors of sunset/flowers. I also love going to home decor/furniture stores (or skimming their magazines) because they have a combination of art and architecture to browse through-- plus I love home supplies... :)"

Chiyogami Origami Butterflies  $8.75

What new designs/creations would you like to add to your shop in the future?
"Oh geez. That's tough. Right now, I have a collection of glass beads I bought abroad in a little bead shop in Galway, Ireland. I would love to have a jewelry making session with all these little guys. I usually find one or two projects weekly that I save for my weekend to try out. I consider it a reward to for getting through the week!"

Ahoy Sailor Keychain  $9.25

You'll have a chance to win your choice of 2 pairs of Musical Earrings from Trinkets By Dana. Enter now on the main giveaway page.

Assorted Music Love Earrings  $5

Visit Trinkets By Dana and use coupon code VIXEN20 at checkout for 20% off your order.

Since it's Valentine's Day I had to ask the shops to share their favorite love story movies.
"I'm not too big of a fan of romantic movies. I don't go looking for them but surprisingly come across some really sweet ones. My go-to answer for this is The Holiday. There is something honest and serendipitous about how two very different women switch homes seeking space from men to find a new adventure waiting for them there."

14 Nights of Valentine's Day Movie Marathon
Follow along with us for 2 weeks full of classic and modern love story movies. Each night there will be a review of the next movie in our movie marathon. Leave a comment on each post with your opinion of that movie. On the last day you will find the magic phrase you will use to unlock the entry on the Rafflecopter worth 10 entries in the giveaway. You must comment on each movie post to qualify.

Guess The Movie Game
This time around we decided not to post the movie list in full so we can play a fun game instead. Each daily post will have a clue to the next night's movie. Each day you can leave your guess on the Rafflecopter widget, on the main giveaway page, for 2 entries in the giveaway. **Guesses must be posted the same day as their clue to receive the 2 entries**

Tonight's Clue ~
"I met a boy today. I think I might like him. I met a boy today. I think I might like him. I met a boy today. I think I might like him.".....................

Night 4 - An Affair To Remember

Tagline - On the Riviera...across the ocean...and all
                over New York!

Directed by Leo McCarey (Duck Soup and The Bells of Saint Mary's) and released on July 11, 1957 by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation (Rated G). Playboy Nicky Ferrante (Carry Grant) and night club singer Terry McKay (Deborah Kerr) have a romance while on a cruise from Europe to New York. Problem is they are both engaged to other people. They decide to make plans to meet six months later on the top floor of The Empire State Building to see if they still feel the same way about each other. Will they keep their date or will fate try to keep them apart?

This is classic movie making at it's best. Whirlwind romance, beautiful locations, unforeseen tragedy and big sappy endings. The time period is one of my favorites. The men look dapper and the women so beautiful. It's a great big slice of 50's movie magic. If you like love stories and haven't seen this one yet, go give it a try. You just don't get much better than Carry Grant!

This movie is a remake of the 1939 movie "Love Affair" with Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer. There was also a modern day remake in 1994 also titled "Love Affair" with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening. I have not seen either of these versions.

Take a look at the original trailer.

Some trivia about the movie...
1. References to this movie in Nora Ephron's Sleepless in Seattle (1993), revitalized interest in the film, and led to 2 million additional sales of the 1957 classic on VHS.
2. Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant improvised many of their scenes throughout filming, and a number of lines that made it to the final cut of the film came from the actors' improvisation.
3. Ingrid Bergman was the first choice to play Terry McKay.
4. Nickie and Terry make their conditional promise to meet in six months at exactly the halfway point of the film (59-1/2 minutes into the 119-minute movie).
5. Deborah Kerr plays Terry McKay, previously played by Irene Dunne in Love Affair (1939), of which this film is a remake - both were directed by Leo McCarey. The year before this film was made, Kerr played Anna Leonowens in The King and I (1956), also a role that had previously been played by Irene Dunne in the black-and-white classic Anna and the King of Siam (1946).
6. After the confrontation with the photographer on the ship's deck, Deborah Kerr turns to Cary Grant and says, "So, I go my way [traces a straight path by her hand] and you go yours [traces a twisty path with the waive of her hand]." The same exchange takes place between Irene Dunne and Cary Grant in The Awful Truth (1937), where she says: "As we go down the life's highway, you go in your way [traces a twisty path with the waive of her hand] and I go in my way [traces a straight path]."
7. Second of three movies that paired Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant.

  2. A true classic.
It has been done so many times - it is in fact a remake itself.
    I loved the original, too.
A bit of a tear-jerker but not in a cheap, easy way.

  12. The BEST-I've had a crush on Cary since I watched all of his films with my mom from a young age. I still have the crush, watch the films and collect books, posters and more. If you haven't seen this movie I suggest you watch it-you'll love it. (Raine on RCs)
