Featured Shop ~ Eternal Girl
Eternal Girl is run by Julia from Rockville, Maryland. Her shop is filled with henna inspired hand drawn jewelry and greeting cards.

Free Heart Necklaces

How did you choose your shop name?
"Eternal girl is the female version of a term used in mythology to describe a child-like being craving boundless freedom. I associate my artwork with the undying need to reach out and extend my limitations through love and life."

Fairy Necklace

Why did you choose to make/sell what you do?
"I started making jewelry a few years ago, in 2011. I ordered some necklace supplies and began experimenting. After about a year of making necklaces as gifts, my friends encouraged me to sell them online."

Dual Roses Necklace

What inspires the designs/creations you make?
"My artwork gives me a chance to connect with individuals I wouldn't normally interact with everyday. I love creating and keeping my mind focused through jewelry making. I keep in mind that with each piece I work on, someone will own, appreciate, and take care of the jewelry. I feel a sense of connection through the transference of a simple object."

Bride to Be Necklace

What new designs/creations would you like to add to your shop in the future?
"I would like to expand my items. I am working on adding photo frames and baby gifts, among other items."

Wine Glass Necklace

Since it's February, I asked the shops to share their favorite love story movies.
"My current favorite love story is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I cannot believe I have never seen this movie until last year. I love it because it's quirky and even though Holly doesn't want to be held down and "owned" she can't help but succumb to her feelings!!"

Night 8 ~ Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Tagline - The first comedy about the end of it all.

Directed by Lorene Scafaria (New Girl [TV]) and released on June 22, 2012 by Focus Features (rated R). As an asteroid heads towards the Earth, Dodge (Steve Carell) and Penny (Keira Knightley) set out to accomplish what is most important in their final weeks. They will quickly find that what is important may not be what they initially thought.

The movie starts with a radio announcer explaining that the Earth's last attempt to destroy the asteroid heading towards it has failed. The world has three weeks until impact. Our main character Dodge's wife walks out on him. Alone and unsure how to handle things we watch Dodge try to maintain his normal life while all around him society is falling apart. When a riot breaks out in his apartment building, he and his neighbor Penny set out to escape it. Only having met the day before, the two embark on an adventure to help each other find the people that are most important to them. What they will find is they already have everything they need.

End of the world and massive society breakdown... does that not sound like a romantic love story? It certainly is not a conventional one but it is surprising what great stories you can find in the most unlikely of places. Yes, there are some major heavy issues going on around our main characters but this is one of the sweetest and most touching love stories I have seen in a long time. The movie mixes a nice amount of humor amongst the drama and not always happy subject matter. Yes, it will most likely make you cry but it will also make you believe in love again. This really is an unexpected little gem.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is available to rent or stream from most DVD services.

Take a look at the original trailer.

A little trivia about the movie.
1. Steve Carell and Nancy Carell, who play husband and wife briefly in this film, are husband and wife in real life.
2. Penny, while escaping the apartment with a stack of record albums, the visible records change, at times you can see Lou Reed's "Coney Island Baby", John Cale's "Vintage Violence" and Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass' "The Beat of The Brass."
3. According to the date on News Today's final issue hanging in the news stand near the beginning of the movie, the film takes place around March 24, 2021.
4. The director appears in still photos as Olivia, the lost love of Dodge.
5. The story of an "unexpected romance blossoming between two strangers while on an impromptu road trip" is familiar territory for Director Lorene Scafaria, as that was the premise of her previous screenplay, "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist".
6.  The asteroid is never seen in the film. It's only visible on the movie poster.
