Featured shop - Deep Midnight Perfume Oil

Deep Midnight Perfume Oils is run by Cat from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her shop is filled with wonderful smelling perfumes.

Sleepy Hollow Perfume 1/3oz  $14

How did you choose your shop name ?
"Deep Midnight refers to the darkest hour of the night...not true midnight. It's more around 1:30-2:30. It seems I am always up at this time like a good vampire ;)"

A Study In Brown Perfume 1/3oz  $14

Why did you choose to make/sell what you do?
"I love artisan perfumes and love creating them! I cannot wear alcohol/aerosol based products and I am also very allergic to a lot of chemicals. I started making perfume oils for myself back in 1996. In 2003 I began selling locally and started on Etsy in 2010. I love creating scents and enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of a truly great scent that myself and others can enjoy."

Darkness Falls Perfume 1/3oz  $14

What inspires the designs/creations you make?
"History and fantasy are the really big inspirations and the real people and characters found therein. I love Ancient Britain and Ireland, Victorian England, Ancient Egypt and Rome, and other eras. I also love classic and fantasy books, and theater as inspirations. I have college degrees in history and anthropology and minors in chemistry and English literature so all that helps!"

Ladies Of London Perfume 1/3oz  $14

What new designs/creations would you like to add to your shop in the future?
"I will always be creating new scents! Plus some fun things are in the works, but right now that is being kept a secret. :D"

Children Of The Night Perfume 1/3oz  $14

You'll have a chance to win a Halloween sample set or a 5 sample set of your choice from Deep Midnight Perfume Oils. Enter now on the main giveaway page.

Since it's Halloween I had to asked the shops to share their favorite horror films.
"Still love and always will love Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman! A sexy, romantic, thriller! I just have to get a copy of Mina's dress in the movie one day!"

Night 4 - Single White Female

Tagline - How do you lock the terror out... when you already invited it in?

Directed by Barbet Schroeder (Reversal of Fortune and Desperate Measures), based on the novel "SWF Seeks Same" by John Lutz, and released on August 14, 1992 by Columbia Pictures (Rated R). Alison Jones (Bridget Fonda) is madly in love with Sam Rawson (Steven Weber) and happily planning their wedding. That is until Sam's ex-wife calls and Alison finds out that they just had sex earlier that day. What is a girl to do? Kick his sorry butt out and place an ad for a new roommate. Unfortunately Alison does not pick the right roommate.

This movie is a fun watch. I remember seeing this at the drive-in with a bunch of girlfriends. It still holds up 20 years later.

We all know that Hedy is the wrong choice but Alison is not as quick as the rest of us. She will just have to learn the hard way and that's what makes for a fun ride. It's great to see Hedy slowly take over Alison's life as she continues to loose her grasp on reality. Not that she had much of a grasp to start with!

The movie becomes a bit campy and over the top as the big ending starts to unfold but that's the beauty of it. Watching Hedy go crazy and Alison kicking her butt is just great. I have always been a huge fan of Steven Weber (most will remember him from the TV show "Wings") and lets just say his final scene in this movie...priceless!!!

Take a look at the original trailer.

Some trivia about the movie...
1. Bridget Fonda had the choice of playing either the Allie role or the Hedy role. She ended up choosing to play Allie, because she said it was a harder role.
2. Like most old apartment buildings the building in this movie does not contain a floor 13. You can see the floor numbers on the elevator in a couple shots.
3. The Ansonia on the Upper West Side of Manhattan was used for the apartment building. The interiors were shot on a sound stage but the scenes in the stairwells were shot at The Ansonia.
4. Whoopi Goldberg auditioned for the role of Allison Jones.
5. To prepare for their fight to the finish scenes, both Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh took several self-defense lessons.

  1. Makes you wish for a book “Interviewing Roommate Candidates for Dummies”. Jennifer Jason Leigh is so good at doing twisted!
...and yes, I remember good ole Steven Weber on "Wings"! :)

  5. Whoopi Goldberg auditioned for the leading role??? Now THAT'S scary!

I personally know of two separate cases of this "life envy" scenario where women imitate someone they admired... bought the same things, wore the same things, drove the same car, etc. Fortunately, they haven't offed anyone... yet. Creepy!

  7. This movie sounds intriguing, but I have never seen it. I think I would especially like the part where her sanity starts slipping away. There's always just something about those types of scenes that get me.
