Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada ~ 1974
In the summer of 1974 my parents decided to take us on a road trip from Oregon to Alaska. We made it as far as Dawson Creek in British Columbia, Canada. There was a flash flood that washed out the road and left everyone stuck right there. It's a little hard to tell but that is a LONG line of cars behind our camper in the above photo. We never did make it to Alaska but it has made for a good story that has been told for years!
Below ~ My mom, Rosemary and myself Kris in the camper. My sister Lisa and brother Pete sitting on the bumper. I only have very vague memories of this trip.

How did you choose your shop name?
"I recently changed my shop's name from Alluring Antiques to Alura's Studio. I felt that using my name would be best since it's pretty unique. And now that I've been able to set aside a room to use as my studio, it makes it official too!"

Why did you choose to make/sell what you do?
"I've always been drawn to antiques, even as a child. Especially old books, which are my specialty!! I just adore the way old books feel and look."

What inspires the designs/creations you make?
"As for my cards, tags and trim-I am inspired by a few things. Halloween, Edgar Allan Poe and Marie Antoinette. Most of my handmade items revolve around them!"

What new designs/creations would you like to add to your shop in the future?
"I am adding more vintage clothing-especially 70's and 80's clothing. I'm also trying my hand at silk screening fabrics. If I'm successful I will be printing reproduction French fabrics!"
