Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt - Night 14
Our scavenger hunt will work like the game Clue this year. Every week you will be looking for clues to a different part of the mystery ~ Settings, Suspects, Rooms, Weapons and Escapes. They will be hidden within an item listing inside one of our participating shops. On each daily post you will be given a hint as to where the main clue is hiding. Once you find the clue go to the main Giveaway Post and find that night's entry on the Rafflecopter widget. You must leave the clue through the Rafflecopter! Do not post the clue anywhere on the blog. If you do it will be deleted and will not count. If you have any questions just ask.
Make sure to keep a list of all the clues as you collect them. On the last day of the giveaway you will be able to submit your guess of how the murder happened. Anyone who actually guesses correctly will win a Surprise Goodie Bag from Laughing Vixen Lounge. These goodie bags are made to suit your taste and usually end up being at least a $50 value! You can start the scavenger hunt game at anytime during the giveaway and go back to find past clues. Clues will stay posted through the entire giveaway.

Since it's Halloween I asked the shops to share their favorite spooky movie.
"How do I pick just one?! I'm a sucker for vampires, and I dig zombies, *hardy har har* but of all time, I think I'd hafta go with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Scared the s*#t outta me."
Attack of the 31 Nights of Halloween Movie Marathon.
Follow along with us for a month full of classic and modern spooky movies. For something a little different this year we have decided to do themed weeks. Week 1 ~ Zombies, Week 2 ~ Werewolves and Vampires, Week 3 ~ Stephen King, Week 4 ~ Classic Double Features and Week 5 ~ Lounge Favorites.
On each daily post there will be a review of the next movie in our movie marathon. Leave a comment on each post with your opinion of that movie. On the last day of the giveaway you will find the Magic Phrase you will use to unlock the entry on the main Giveaway Post worth 10 entries. You must comment on each movie post to qualify.
Guess The Movie Game
This year we decided not to post the movie list in full so we can play a fun game instead. Each daily post will have a clue to the next night's movie. Leave your guess on the Rafflecopter widget, on the main Giveaway Post, for 1 entry in the giveaway. Please do not post guesses anywhere else on the blog or they will be deleted and not count.
**Guesses must be posted the same day as their clue to receive the entry** Rafflecopter runs on Eastern Standard Time. You can only post 1 guess per 24 hour period. So if you miss a day you can not make it up.
Tonight's Clue ~ Zombie Kitty!!!
Week 3 ~ Stephen King
Night 14 - Children of the Corn
Tagline - An adult nightmare.
And a child shall lead them...
In their world adults are not allowed... to
live.
Directed by Fritz Kiersch and released on March 9, 1984 by New World Pictures (Rated R). A couple (Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton) break down in a creepy Nebraska town that is being run by creepy kids that years ago killed all the grown ups. Need we really say anymore? Good luck getting out of that town!
This is one of many Stephen King books to be turned into a movie. It was actually a short story from the Night Shift Collection. I always find this a fun film to watch. It's creepy and eerie. It may be a little outdated looking but I think that adds to the atmosphere. Everything today is slick and shiny. The dated film quality gives it a creepier feel.
Creepy little kids and corn. What more do you need? Did I mention... it's creepy!
Take a look at the original trailer.
Some trivia about the movie.
1. Though real corn was used for most of filming, polyurethane corn had to be used for the more difficult action sequences.
2. In the original theatrical trailer, Stephen King's name is misspelled as "Steven".
3. On the dashboard of Burt and Vicki's car is a copy of Night Shift, the Stephen King short story collection in which Children of the Corn originally appeared.
4. In the original story, Isaac and Malachai's names were William Renfrew and Craig Boardman, respectively.
5. The tagline "And a child shall lead them" comes from Isaiah 11:6 in the Old Testament, which reads, "And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."
I have never seen this movie but I have been meaning to :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my faves!
ReplyDeleteI love Stephen King! This is the best week ever. I remember catching a little bit of this movie when I was little before my mom freaked out on me. I learned then from my dad that this movie always gave my mom the creeps so for about a week I would copy what I saw the kids doing in the movie. Loved creeping out my mom
ReplyDeleteNot my fav SK movie...it was pretty scary back in the day!
ReplyDeletelittle blond kids still creep me out...thanks Mr.King!
ReplyDeleteI think I saw this movie some time ago. At least I immediately guessed right. :) Love this Stephen King week!!!
ReplyDeleteSo creepy! I remember watching this at a slumber party and we were all too terrified to sleep.
ReplyDeleteThis movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid! Also, the first time I went to Nebraska to visit my sister after she moved there I had just passed my driver's test and my sister's boyfriend took me driving and we were passing lots of cornfields and I had to pull over and let him drive me home because I kept thinking of that movie. I am still creeped out by cornfields!
ReplyDeleteThis movie terrified me. I still get creeped out at night passing corn fields
ReplyDeleteNot a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteSuch a creepy film! Oh those terrifying and creepy children! EEEEKKK. Not my favorite Stephen King film though.
