Attack of the 31 Nights of Halloween Shop Feature - Stalker Ink

Our next featured shop is Stalker Ink which is run by Vickey who's from Surrey in south east England.
She has great beaded jewelry with some of the profits going to help various charities.

Red Elasticated Chainmail Bracelet $30

So where does the name Stalker Ink come from? Vickey tells us "My partner and I were just messing about one day and came up with the name. He also designs t-shirts and we were talking about one day opening a shop selling my jewellery and his t-shirts and cards. Stalker Ink just sort of popped up put of nowhere, really!".

The Kittehs are coming. . . .  Earrings $11

What inspires her designs? "I get inspired by all sorts of things really. I mainly seem to work with colour and if I like it then I make it! I like really bright colours and I love to see what colours work with other colours. I've always had a love of bright colours which used to drive my mother mad as none of my clothes ever used to match and they were always really bright! I also like to use a lot of skulls and angel wings in my designs. That may have something to do with my love of the Supernatural boys!".

Gothic Skull Cross Necklace $16

Why did Vickey decide to open her shop and create the designs in it? "I was made redundant in December 2008 and I started making jewellery again as a way of keeping myself occupied. I sued to make my own jewellery when I was at college all those years ago, as well as my own clothes. Then I thought it would be a good idea to sell my jewellery to make a bit of money. Every little bit helped, what with me not being able to find work for 4 months and the bills piling up!".

"When I started making jewellery again, I mainly made things that I would wear myself, and often did. My jewellery box is full of things I’ve made over the last few years that never quite made it to my shop! Then I started making earrings as I have a few friends that like long, dangly earrings. I don’t wear them myself as I’ve never had my ears pierced. Seems a bit silly really considering a lot of my Etsy shop is taken up by earring listings!".

Since it's Halloween I had to ask the shops what their favorite horror film is. "Oooo, now that’s a very good question! There are so many to choose from! Tell you what – I’ll give you 5 of my favourites! (and they’re all the original ones – not the remakes!)

- Evil Dead 2
- Nightmare On Elm Street
- Halloween
- The Omen
- Event Horizon

When I was in the 6th grade this book was a huge best seller. Everyone was reading it. One girl had a copy and it got passed around the school. The part I remember reading was the room with all the flys! Everything about it was scary and creepy and it was suppose to be based on the true events of this family.

I saw the movie many years later and I still think it's creepy and scary. By now the book has been debunked as a work of fiction and not true at all. But I did see something on TV the other night that had the son on it who still swears that it was true.

One true thing is that a mass murder did happen in the house. That alone is enough for me to believe that there could be something wrong with living in that house! Besides, the house has eyes!!! It's just wrong.

If you haven't seen it give it a try. I still think the original tops the remake. The remake was a good effort but just fell short. If you like to read definitely read the book. True or not is a scary read.

  1. i remember when some 'documentary' or other came out, stating the whole amityville haunt was a hoax. however, it's still a good enough story that some t.v. shows still make reference to it. csi: new york edition did a halloween show a season or two ago, giving an homage of sorts to amity.

  3. Cute shop! Not very Halloween-y but i think the Strawberry Lampwork earrings are cute!

I enjoyed learning about the history of Amityville Horror. I am also interested in the other movies that are coming out about the Lutz story and the real murders by Ronald DeFeo, Jr

  6. Loved all the jewelry in this post.

I saw Amity when it first came out (I'm that old) and thought it was good. I also read the book. I tried to watch the remake with Ryan (last name escapes me, but the one with the green body from Green Lantern), but I wasn't interested enough to continue.

  10. Really loved this movie when it came out! I think the events were pretty much fabricated (at the very least exaggerated and embellished upon). The investigators, the "Warrens" were
definitely wackos, IMO. But the movie was still spooky and entertaining.

  12. I have seen this one, I think, but I don't remember too much about it, other than they remade it several years ago. Will need to revisit it.

  13. I have seen the the remakes of The Amityville Horror but I want to see the original one. These are my favorite horror films too. I was really afraid with Freddy Krueger as a kid.

  15. I liked this movie but I found it sad because this was based on a true story so those children were killed in real life. :(
