To get in the Valentine spirit each shop was asked what their favorite love story movie is. Teresa said " A Lot Like Love is my favorite romantic comedy movie. It is a wonderful “feel good” movie staring Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet. Both of them are so easy on the eyes."
"My Dad went out of town for the weekend, and my Mom didn’t want to stay in their big house by herself so she made the half mile drive to our condo to stay with me and my 15 year old son for a sleepover party….Yea!! We chose A Lot Like Love and enjoyed it so much. Not only did we get to see Ashton Kutcher naked in the moonlight, we had the pleasure of hearing him try to win over his love by singing Bon Jovi’s, “I’ll Be There For You,” He won my heart. Now I can’t tell you anymore about the movie, because it will ruin it. I will just say if you are a romantic, you will enjoy this movie!"
Now for tonight's movie. Anyone who leaves a comment, with their opinion of the movie, for each of the 14 movies will get an extra 10 entries in our Valentine's Day Giveaway. After you finish commenting on all 14 movies you need only leave 1 comment on the main giveaway page that says "I made it through the 14 Nights of Valentine's Day Movie Marathon with my heart intact!" That 1 comment will count for 10 entries.
Night 2 - Dangerous Liaisons
Tagline - Lust. Seduction. Revenge. The Game As
You've Never Seen It Played Before.
Music selections from the movie on the jukebox -
My downloading site is down so I didn't get this one in time. Opps! Directed by Stephen Frears (The Grifters and The Queen) and released on December 20, 1988 by Warner Brothers Pictures (rated R). Two aristocrats, with too much time on their hands, make a bet, act simply wicked, ruin peoples lives and ultimately become their own demise.
I really enjoy this movie. It's a mean, wicked and cruel movie but it's done so well that it becomes a sinfully good watch. Glen Close and John Malkovich are at the top of their game and such fun to watch. The costumes and settings are beautiful. Filling in the supporting cast is Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman and Keanu Reeves. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it and if you have go watch it again!
Take a look at the original trailer.
Some trivia about the movie...
1. When the novel "Les Liaisons dangereuses" by Choderlos de Laclos was first published in 1782, it was considered so scandalous that when Queen Marie-Antoinette commissioned a copy for her personal library she had to have it bound in a blank cover so that no-one would recognise the author's name or title 2. The young Drew Barrymore was tested for and came close to getting the role of Cécile.
3. Alan Rickman, who played Vicomte de Valmont
4. The original Broadway production of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Christopher Hampton opened at the Music Box Theater in New York on August 30, 1987, ran for 149 performances and was nominated for the 1987 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Play.
5. Sarah Jessica Parker was originally offered the role of Cécile but turned it down.
I do like Glenn Close...always playing crazy women... Also despite the bad comments he has gotten in the past I have a soft spot for Keanu. Don't very often watch films based in this era, I think the only other film I've seen is Man in the Iron Mask, going to dig the dvd out now and craft tonight
