Directed by Richard LaGravenese (Paris, je t'aime and Freedom Writers) and released on December 21, 2007 by Warner Brothers Pictures. After Holly's (Hilary Swank) husband Gerry (Gerard Butler) dies she begins to receive letters from him. Each letter sends her on different adventures slowly pushing her towards a new future.

Oh my stars! I may as well just start bawling now. This movie is sweet, funny, touching and if it doesn't make you cry then there is just something wrong with you.

And I love the scene where Lisa Kudrow's character is complaining about how the nail polish companies discontinue your favorite colors so you have to stock up "like it's armageddon". I laugh because I have about 30 bottles of my favorite shade stashed away.

A little trivia...
1. During the filming of a strip sequence, Gerard Butler's suspenders hit Hilary Swank on the forehead. She received a cut and had to be brought to a hospital where she received several stitches.
2. According to the Christmas 2006 issue of People magazine, Jeffrey Dean Morgan had to learn to play the guitar for his part in this film in a very short time. His guitar instructor was Nancy Wilson of the band Heart. Morgan was thrilled to take lessons from her because, in his own words, "I had such a crush on her as a kid."
3. When Holly Kennedy, played by Hilary Swank, tries to choose between different job options, one of them is vampire slayer. Another character in this movie, John McCarthy, is played by James Marsters, who also is the famous vampire Spike in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997). Hilary Swank also played a supporting character named Kimberly Hannah in the movie version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Gerard Butler also played the vampire Dracula in "Dracula 2000".
4. During the performance of "The Galway Girl" by William (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Holly (Hilary Swank) flashes back to a performance of the same song by her late husband, Gerry (Gerard Butler). It is later discovered that William and Gerry were best friends, and William is seen briefly on stage with the rest of Gerry's band, during the flashback performance, while Gerry is singing to Holly.
5. The whole letter to sent to his Mom & Dad in Ireland says: "Dear Mum & Dad. Well, Doc says there's not much time so I thought I'd write to you, seeing how bad we Kennedys are with modern day contraptions like telephones. Tell Dad to not lay about and to take care of his legs-keep them walking. I always think of Dad walking across the farm yelling after the hands too lazy to keep the chickens fed. And you Mum, yelling at Dad to treat the boys with a Father's hand, not a father's belt. I remember everything Mum. And I thank you for giving me a mother's breath of life and love. No son ever loved a mother more, I can tell you that. Never could say it to your face. Nor to Dad. But I love you."
